I’m really happy to see Toshiba taking a shot at making a large tablet like the 13 inch Excite 13.

13 inch 1600×900 display
Android 4
Tegra 3
1GB RAM
micro USB, micro HDMI, and full sized SD slot
2.2 pounds

32GB for $650
64GB for $750

Coming June 24th.

I’d love to buy this tablet, but just not sure I want to spend quite that much on a tablet. I’m kinda scared it might be too heavy to use all the time like my 10 inch tablet, but I’d so love to have a bigger screen.

HTC’s One S phone is coming to T-Mobile USA on April 25th reports say.

There are apparently two One S phones. The first one is a grey blue model and does not have the micro arc oxidized finish. The black and red version with micro arc oxidization is rumored to come in June.

The phone is kinda nice. Uses a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 dual core Krait processor, which beats the Tegra 3 in CPU performance, but lags a bit in GPU performance. I’ve heard Sense 4 is pretty nice and keeps more of the stock Android experience than previous versions. The phone is thin and really good looking (at least the black one). The screen is probably going to be a tad on the disappointing side when compared to other 300+ DPI phones like the Galaxy Nexus though.

And on T-Mobile it’ll have HSPA+ 42Mbps. This is probably one of the big reasons I’d get this phone (as a T-Mobile user).

Lenovo has shown off a 9.7 inch 1024×768 Android tablet in a YouTube video.

Not much info on specs, it’s a TI OMAP (but not sure which), 1GB of RAM expected, micro SD, and four speakers, along with Android 4.

After using an iPad and Touchpad, I have grown to like the 4:3 ratio quite a bit. But no price or release information yet.

Last rumor we heard, that cheap $199 Nexus tablet might end up using something other than an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. However Nvidia’s CEO says there may be a $199 Tegra 3 tablet by this summer. Perhaps his not so subtle hint that the ASUS Nexus tablet really will have the Tegra 3 process afterall.

CES 2012 ASUS and Nvidia together unveiled a 7 inch Android 4.0 tablet with a Tegra 3 processor, the MeMO 370T. And it was announced at just $249. But like most things at CES, no launch time frame was given. So we waited.

Then came rumors that ASUS would also make a Google Nexus tablet. It was expected it also would be a 7 inch low cost tablet, possibly the same as the that 7 inch MeMO 370T they showed at CES.

Now the latest rumor is saying the MeMO 370T is dead and ASUS is working on something entirely different for Google. A cheaper $149 tablet with a cheaper Snapdragon S4 processor (though it’s certainly no slouch either).

Though seems a bit odd they’d kill of the Tegra 3 version, with ASUS and Nvidia seemingly being so buddy-buddy with each other. This might hurt Nvidia’s feelings.

It’s not unusual for someone to use multiple manufactures for the same part. For example the LCD monitor you buy could include a panel from one of 3 different manufactures all with some noteable feature quality differences.

But what ASUS is doing seems pretty bad to me. Their Zenbook ultra portables may come with one of two different SSD drives, a really fast ADATA Sandforce drive or a slow (compared to current gen SSDs) Sandisk SSD. And the customer has no way of knowing without seeing the box. So if you buy it in a store, you can check for a sticker that tells which SSD is inside, but if you buy it online, you won’t know until you get it.

The review said the Sandisk SSD had some of the lowest scores they’d seen from an SSD, while the ADATA is one of the latest SF-2281 drives that is tops in performance. That Sandisk SSD has performance numbers about the same as my 3 year old Vertex 1. I would cry if I got the Sandisk SSD in my Zenbook and then I’d return it.

Some time ago I purchased TuneIn Radio Pro on the Amazon App Store. It might have been an app of the day special or something. But like many Amazon App Store apps, this app is often months behind in version number compared to what is available in the Google Play store. So when I saw TuneIn Radio Pro on sale in Google Play for 49 cents, I decided I wanted to buy it there.

In Google Play on my phone it showed the app as “purchased” even though I’m mostly sure I hadn’t purchased it before. I didn’t have TuneIn Radio Pro installed from my Amazon App Store at the time either. So I clicked on the “purchased” button in Google Play and selected Install. Then I get this error…

Error
The download of “TuneIn Radio Pro” was decline because you haven’t purchased it.

I went to the Google Play website and tried it there. It also showed it as “purchased” so I tried to send it to my phone. I get no error message through the website, but it never arrives on my phone either.

So I emailed Google about the problem. After waiting a few days Google replied with this…

Hi there,

Thanks for letting us know about this issue – we’re aware that some users are seeing apps as “Purchased” but are getting a “Download declined” error. Unfortunately, there’s no way to manually dissociate the app from your account. We’re presently investigating this issue and will update you as soon as we have more information. I may be requesting further information about the circumstances of this issue, and I really appreciate your continued patience and cooperation in resolving this situation. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

So it appears there is no way right now for me to purchase this app. I’ll have to live with the free version or my old Amazon version.
